Construction Begins For Crosstown Bus Lane Project In The Bronx

An infrastructure project aimed at improving bus service and street safety near Yankee Stadium is now underway in the Bronx, city officials announced. Led by the New York City Department of Transportation and the New York City Department of Design and Construction, the initiative will upgrade key portions of East 161st Street and surrounding corridors along the Bx6 Select Bus Service route. The project introduces dedicated bus-only lanes, including converting the 161st Street underpass to exclusive bus use, alongside pedestrian safety improvements and new rider amenities.

Permits Filed for 400 Thatford Avenue in Brownsville, Brooklyn

The affordable housing lottery has launched for 400 Thatford Avenue, a three-story residential conversion in Brownsville, Brooklyn. Designed by Baobab Architects and developed by Simon Kaufman, the structure yields 70 residences. Available on NYC Housing Connect are 17 units for residents at 40 to 100 percent of the area median income (AMI), ranging in eligible income from $37,955 to $129,600.

Permits Filed for 116 Delancey Street on the Lower East Side of Manhattan

Permits have been filed for a 10-story mixed-use building at 116 Delancey Street on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. The corner lot, also addressed as 100 Essex Street, is steps from the Delancey Street–Essex Street subway station, served by the F, J, M, and Z trains. David Lowin of NYC Economic Development Corp. is listed as the owner behind the applications.

Demolition Prep Underway for 37-Story Skyscraper at 1491-1497 Third Avenue on Manhattan’s Upper East Side

Demolition is about to get underway at 1491-1497 Third Avenue, the site of a 37-story residential skyscraper on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Designed by Hill West Architects and developed by Samy Mahfar of 255 East Houston Manager LLC, the 510-foot-tall structure will span 259,202 square feet and yield 120 condominium units with an average scope of 2,001 square feet. The development will also include 18,994 square feet of lower-level commercial space, two cellar levels, a 31-foot-long rear yard, and a 30-vehicle parking garage. The project site is located at the corner of Third Avenue and East 84th Street.

14-Story Residential Building Readies for Construction at 491 Baltic Street in Gowanus, Brooklyn

Excavation is imminent at 491 Baltic Street, the site of a 14-story residential building in Gowanus, Brooklyn. Designed by Isaac & Stern Architects and developed by Two Kings Real Estate, the 78,000-square-foot structure will yield 79 rental units, with 25 percent designated as affordable housing. The project will also include ground-floor commercial space. INPUT is the interior designer for the property, which is located at the corner of Baltic and Nevins Streets.
