Williamsburg’s ongoing development boom is stretching across all parts of the neighborhood, and includes everything from apartments to hotels and office buildings. But smaller infill is just as important in terms of rounding out the pedestrian realm, and now a tipster has sent along renderings of plans for an old warehouse at 120 North 6th Street, which Kenneth Park Architects will transform into both retail and office space.
Plans total 20,000 square feet, and will convert the first floor to retail, while the second floor will hold offices. Above, the project will also include a roof deck.
Per ACRIS, the site traded hands in 2011 to Ama Tseko LLC for $2,382,801, and while building applications are currently lacking, our tipster says that activity is imminent.
A similar project is also in the works at 247 Bedford Avenue. While most new development in Williamsburg is residential, the neighborhood’s increasing cache and pedestrian draw is evidently lending itself to more commercial activities. This is becoming obvious both on the waterfront, where office buildings and hotels are both booming, and in the neighborhood’s heart, near the Bedford L stop, where infill like 120 North 6th Street is putting long-neglected properties to much better use.
The scope of 120 North 6th Street is relatively small, so while building applications have not yet been filed, the pace of the project should be quick.
No completion date has been formally announced.
