The stone façade has begun to climb up the twisting curtain walls The XI, a pair of towers designed by Bjarke Ingels of Bjarke Ingels Group in Chelsea. One of the most noticeable construction projects along the High Line, the 36- and 26-story reinforced concrete towers, which topped out in March, will soon be home to condominiums and a 137-room Six Senses Hotel Resorts Spas, the first location in the United States. Eighty-seven of the residential units will be designed by Gilles & Boissier, while 136 will be designed by Gabellini Sheppard. Prices will range from $2,575,000 to $14,500,000.

New photos of the larger, 402-foot-tall superstructure show the color and texture of the envelope, which is going to be covered with travertine stone. The warm hues tone down the bright white-colored exterior, which is only the backside to the travertine fitting. Workers are about two-thirds of the way up the western profile, while the shorter, 300-foot-tall counterpart has yet to begin curtain installation.

The frame that will help support and hold the stone curtain wall in place on the slim southern elevation can be seen almost reaching the top.

Meanwhile, work on the 26-story component is not too far behind. Most of the exterior progress is taking place on the backside of the structure, facing the opposite tower. This is more apparent when looking up along West 17th Street.

The annex portion of The XI along Tenth Avenue has yet to reach street level. This is where the ground-floor retail will be located.

HFZ Capital Group is the developer of the 908,250 square-foot project, while Omnibuild is in charge of construction. Douglas Elliman is in charge of sales and marketing.

Completion of The XI is expected in 2020.
