The scaffolding and black netting have begun disassembly at Hillrose 28, a 20-story residential building at 157-161 East 28th Street in Kips Bay. The 191-foot-tall, 66,125-square-foot property is developed by Forkosh Development and designed by C3D Architecture with Lemay + Escobar as the interior designer. Corcoran Sunshine is in charge of marketing and selling the 43 residential units.
A recent photograph looking north shows the upper section emerging from the construction shroud, exposing the white façade of the stepped parapet to the daylight. The scaffolding should continue to come down over the course of the summer. The slim eastern profile, where the exterior hoist is attached to the superstructure, will likely be the last part of the exterior to be completed. The envelope is composed of Indiana limestone and glass, and the structure features a number of stacked balconies spread across the southern and western sides, as well as setbacks topped with landscaped terraces.

Forkosh purchased the property, located at the corner of East 28th Street and Third Avenue, for $43 million in January 2018. Development required the demolition of three low-rise apartment buildings on the site.
Hillrose 28’s residential units will range from studios to three-bedroom penthouses, with over half providing private outdoor space. Few details have been released regarding the amenities. The closest subway is the 6 train at the 28th Street station on Park Avenue South. The N, R, and W trains are also nearby at the 23rd Street station by Madison Square Park along Broadway.
YIMBY last reported that Hillrose 28 is expected to be finished sometime in 2020, though sometime in early 2021 is likely.
