Construction appears to have topped out at 88 Regent Street, a 32-story mixed-use project in the Liberty Harbor North Redevelopment section of Jersey City. Designed by Marchetto Higgins Stieve and developed by 88 Regent Street, LLC, the development will yield 392 rental apartments, 9,110 square feet of retail space, and 5,595 square feet of commercial office space.
Recent photos show the state of work at the site, which is located at the corner of Jersey Avenue and Regent Street. The 12-story podium of the reinforced concrete edifice is almost entirely covered in the final glass envelope.

Progress is continuing on the upper stories, with only a small section of wooden formwork and safety cocoon remaining as the concrete settles on the final floor plates. The prominent rounded corner on the western corner of the superstructure will eventually be topped with a cupola made of glass, as illustrated in the above rendering. The curtain wall features an interesting layering with curved surfaces, which will give the structure a distinctive overall appearance.

Residential amenities have yet to be detailed, but will be located on the 13th story. The property will also contain a multi-level parking garage with 305 parking spaces. The Jersey Avenue light rail station is located directly across the street to the south of the property, providing easy access to the downtown Jersey City neighborhood as well as connection to the Hoboken and the Weehawken waterfront. Also nearby is the Liberty Harbor-Marin Boulevard ferry stop on the Hudson River.
88 Regent Street looks like it will ready to open sometime next year.

Wow, this is quite an epic building! I especially like the proniment rounded corner of 88 Regent. I’ll say, we shouldn’t underestimate Jersey City in their high rise construction. I almost feel like some of them are better than an average New York City high rise!
