Construction has wrapped up on The Altiers, an 11-story residential building at 28 Avenue at Port Imperial in West New York, New Jersey. Designed by Lessard Design and developed by Canoe Brook Development, the structure yields 426 rental units in studio to three-bedroom layouts. The property is located by the intersection of Avenue at Port Imperial and Riverbend Road.

The exterior is finished in white and earth-toned paneling surrounding floor-to-ceiling windows and glass doors for numerous stacks of balconies. The U-shaped massing opens toward the Hudson River, providing a large portion of the units with vistas of the Midtown skyline directly across the river. The double-height ground floor is enclosed in bronze-hued metal screens around the parking garage, and new trees and shrubbery have been planted around the property and throughout the adjacent waterfront esplanade.

  1. sigh…such a shame that generic cheap slop like this can be classified as luxury and people still pay for it. The housing market is so utterly ruined in this country

    • This property looks much better in person and the million (billion?) dollar views are not to be denied. Nor is the location (location, location), which is withing walking distance of light rail, ferry and bus service that will get you into Manhattan in under 20 minutes.

  2. They tore down a fairly new looking apartment building to build this, which I’m wondering if they will do with the sister buildings that sit just north of it and are shown in the foreground of the final photo. Looks quite nice up close.

  3. Luxury boxes cacaroash living

  4. What kind of ridiculous name is “Altiers”?

Ugh. They spent money on this, but it all floats on a metal screen everyone knows is a parking garage. And then there are the strap-on balconies…
The building directly north is a far better design.

    • They tore down a building that was a twin to the one you prefer, (directly north) to build this. In fact there are two more, not just one. It will be interesting to see if this trend will continue to gain more density.
