Curtain wall installation is nearing completion on 65 Private Drive, a 40-story residential building and the tallest component of the four-tower Calyer Place master plan from Cooper Robertson & Partners in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Designed by SLCE Architects and developed by M&H Realty, the 439-foot-tall structure will yield 500 rental units. The property is located at the intersection of West and Oak Streets along the East River.
Exterior work has continued steadily since our last update in August, and the glass envelope now covers the entirety of the residential floors with the exception of a strip on the wide southern elevation where the construction elevator remains attached. The mechanical extension is also in the process of receiving its exterior treatment on this profile.
Railings for the numerous stacked balconies have also begun installation in the months since our last update.
Meanwhile, construction is shaping up on the multi-story podium and annex along the East River, which is now fully enclosed in its glass envelope. Railings will eventually replace the protective orange netting along the edges of its roof and setbacks.
Work is also underway on the landscaped plaza surrounding the development, with trees and shrubbery planted around the paver pathway that leads from Private Drive to the complex. This area remains closed off by barriers and fencing.
65 Private Drive’s amenities include a basketball court, bowling alley, screening room, music room, fitness center, an indoor swimming pool and spa, children’s playroom, an indoor dog run, and outdoor recreational space.
YIMBY last announced that 65 Private Drive will soon be joined by a second 40-story tower, as well as additional 22- and 32-story high-rises constructed in a later phase of construction. The $500 million development is planned to yield a combined 1 million square feet with nearly 1,000 apartments, 10,000 square feet of retail space, 7,160 square feet of community facilities, parking with capacity for over 600 vehicles, and a new riverfront esplanade.
The first tower at 65 Private Drive is on track to be completed sometime in the second half of 2023.

Stacked of balconies are an important part of the tower, where the occupants come out to look around beautiful views below. Placing trees and shrubs is also going in the process, forty floors are high enough to take the elevator: Thanks to Michael Young.
Well “David”, one would hope that it’s better to take an elevator 40 stories, unlike yourself who probably would just float, based on “what” your taking?! 1🤔🤣
And remember the little bird flys at dusk, so carry an umbrella! 🌂
They VE’d any distinctive features, what a shocker.
Nothing says “I think that I’m better than you” than saying you live on Private Drive.
This building definitely has better side facing the street. It would have looked better with a little less glass and a little more wall.
Need a two bedroom apartment
