Rounding out our Turkey Week rundown of stalled and on-hold projects in New York City is 118-124 Tenth Avenue, a planned ten-story commercial building in Chelsea, Manhattan. Initially developed by Real Estate Equities Corporation (REEC), which acquired the adjacent properties at 118 and 124 Tenth Avenue for $21 million in 2017, the project was expected to yield 100,000 square feet of office and ground-floor retail space. REEC completed demolition of the former low-rise occupants of the parcel, but progress stalled shortly thereafter. Signs posted on site indicate that GDSNY has taken over as developer and the building’s scope has been expanded to 155,000 square feet. The signs also list Triton Construction as the general contractor for the project, which is located along Tenth Avenue between West 17th and West 18th Streets, across from the High Line.
Recent photos show the leveled property sitting quietly, with weeds beginning to reclaim the land among piles of rubble left over from the demolition.

The outdated rendering in the main photo depicts the project’s initial conception under REEC’s ownership. The design consisted of a glass curtain wall lined with white vertical fins and thick dark horizontal bands separating each floor. Lushly landscaped terraces would have topped the seventh-story setback and flat roof parapet. Renderings and an architect have yet to be revealed for the new design.
The current project team of GDSNY and Triton Construction has recently collaborated on other office developments in New York City, most notably 28&7 at 322-326 Seventh Avenue and 1245 Broadway in NoMad. Both were designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM) and offer a mix of Class A office space and retail components. We hope to soon see a reveal for 118-124 Tenth Avenue matching the caliber of these projects.
The closest subways to the property are the A, C, and E trains at the 14th Street station along Eighth Avenue.

Took down a very cool garage turned restaurant (Park I thin was the name) for this, so hopefully they develop the property soon!
Park was an amazing unique venue for dinner and it’s night parties. Loved the art deco interior.
Maybe the hold up is in acquiring the diner and adjacent warehouse. Would make sense…

park was most definitely not amaaazing. it was often clueless and at best mediocre to the core. prior it was a spiffy garage. hopefully the new version has nice retail or a better resto.
