Construction is complete on Hanson Place Community Plaza, a 13-story affordable housing complex at 142 South Portland Avenue in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. Designed by OCV Architects and developed by Hanson Place Church Support Corporation and MDG Design & Construction, the $65.7 million project yields 104 affordable apartments for low- to moderate-income households as well as 22,000 square feet of community space, 8,000 square feet for health programming, and 900 square feet for the Hanson Place Church Support Corporation ministries. The property is bound by Hanson Place to the north and South Elliott place to the south.
Financing for Hanson Place Community Plaza included $2.8 million in Resolution Capital Funds from Mayor Eric Adams and former Council Member Laurie Cumbo, along with $17.4 million from New York’s Mixed Income Mix & Match Program, which is financed by the Department of Housing Preservation and the New York City Housing Development Corporation. Contributions were also made by Citi Community Capital and Richman Housing Resources, LLC.
“Today’s ribbon cutting not only marks the opening of Hanson Place Community Plaza, but also honors the Fort Greene community that united to create deeply affordable, culturally rich housing for low- and moderate-income Brooklyn families,” said HPD commissioner Adolfo Carrión Jr. “Hanson Place created 104 new homes alongside essential healthcare and youth services, while making one thing clear today: for affordable housing to really work it must be rooted in the strength and resources of the neighborhood it serves.”

Affordable housing actually works for low and middle income, I’m a bit worried about the kitchen photos: Thanks.
