“Today’s ribbon cutting not only marks the opening of Hanson Place Community Plaza, but also honors the Fort Greene community that united to create deeply affordable, culturally rich housing for low- and moderate-income Brooklyn families,” said HPD commissioner Adolfo Carrión Jr. “Hanson Place created 104 new homes alongside essential healthcare and youth services, while making one thing clear today: for affordable housing to really work it must be rooted in the strength and resources of the neighborhood it serves.”
