38-15 Queens Boulevard’s Steel Superstructure Rises in Sunnyside, Queens

Construction is rising on 38-15 Queens Boulevard, a two-story car dealership in Sunnyside, Queens. Developed by Auto Group, which purchased the property along with the abutting 38-08 43rd Avenue for $38 million under the DCO QOZB 38-15 QB LLC in early 2023, the structure will cover 0.69 acres and contain an expansive auto showroom and an ajoining service facility. The project is bound by Queens Boulevard to the south and 39th Street to the east.

Recent photographs show the southernmost section of steel-framed superstructure topped out and metal decking in the process of being assembled for the first and second floors, which feature extended ceiling heights. Beams for the remainder of the structure are beginning to be erected to the north along 39th Street as earthwork continues in the center of the lot.

The following images show the state of work on the northern end of the parcel, where excavators are working below grade around sections of the building’s foundations. Temporary steel beams have been put in place to buttress the base of the abutting structure to the west as crews build out the perimeter.

The rendering in the main photo previews the finished look of the southeastern corner of the building, which will be clad in a glass curtain wall framed by a grid of gray metal mullions, maximizing the flow of natural light into the showroom. A mezzanine level sits between the first and second floors lined with glass railings overlooking the show floor, and offices and mechanical space will likely be housed in the space above. The remainder of the building is primarily enclosed in gray paneling, with a row of windows visible at the top of the eastern elevation above a pair of garage doors leading to the service facility.

The nearest subway from the development is the 7 train at the elevated 40th Street-Lowery Street station to the east along Queens Boulevard.

38-15 Queens Boulevard’s anticipated completion date is slated for summer 2025, as noted on site.

As far as I can see the showroom has large glass windows from floor-to-ceiling, and a car is now a necessity: Thanks.

  2. Hit that whole pavement with grass & trees.
