Façade work is progressing on 4026-4032 18th Avenue, a four-story mixed-use building in Kensington, Brooklyn. Designed by Djlu Architect and developed by Congregation Yad Hakohen Dushinsky, also known as Yeshiva Toras Aish Dushinsky, the 67-foot-tall structure will span 18,942 square feet for a school. The project will also include ground-floor retail space. The property is located at the corner of East 4th Street and 18th Avenue.

The superstructure stands topped out and shrouded in scaffolding and blue netting as crews work to lay the red brick façade around the window voids, which are covered in plastic sheets. The building features high ceiling spans and a mix of rectangular and arched windows, and culminates in a bulkhead toward the rear northern end of the structure.

The property was formerly occupied by several low-rise buildings, as seen in the below Google Street View image from before the start of demolition in 2018. The site sat idle for several years following the conclusion of demolition in 2019, and the current building didn’t begin to rise above street level until earlier this year.

The developer purchased the property for $4.1 million in June after securing an $11.2 million construction loan from Bank of Princeton. The development includes 11,428 square feet of air rights.

The nearest subway is the F train at the elevated 18th Avenue station above McDonald Avenue.

An anticipated completion date for 4026-4032 18th Avenue has yet to be announced.

  1. FOUR-story? Look again!
