NYC Parks has broken ground on a $5.6 million reconstruction of Captain Mario Fajardo Playground in Kissena Corridor Park, located at Kissena Boulevard and Booth Memorial Avenue in Flushing, Queens. The project is led by NYC Parks with funding from the Queens Borough President and New York City Council.

Work will rebuild the playground, basketball courts, and handball courts, while adding new lighting, drainage, plumbing upgrades, and a sanitation enclosure near Booth Memorial Avenue. The redesign will also increase greenspace and preserve mature London Plane trees.

The playground will include universally accessible entrances, separate play areas for preschoolers and teenagers, multiple swing types, and a relocated spray shower that can function as a children’s bike-riding area during the off-season.

Transit nearby Mario Fajardo Playground includes the Flushing–Main Street station, served by the 7 train, with nearby bus service at Kissena Boulevard and Booth Memorial Avenue including the Q17, Q25, and Q88.
