In Plain Sight, a free, yearlong public art exhibition, opened June 4 at Brooklyn Army Terminal and the Brooklyn Wholesale Meat Market in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. Curated by Debra Simon of Debra Simon Art Consulting in partnership with NYCEDC and WXY architecture + urban design, the exhibition features 12 Brooklyn-based artists and uses the waterfront industrial campus as a site-specific canvas.

The exhibition includes sculpture, murals, photographs, and installations placed across indoor and outdoor areas, including lobby columns, plazas, decommissioned train cars, and waterfront access points. The works explore the layered histories of the Sunset Park waterfront, with themes tied to industry, ecology, labor, migration, and community.

Several works were fabricated on-site using materials sourced from Brooklyn Army Terminal tenants and makerspaces, connecting the exhibition to the campus’s current role as a hub for manufacturing and creative production.

Brooklyn Army Terminal is served by the 59th Street subway station, with access to the N and R trains, and the 53rd Street station, also served by the R train.
