There has been major progress on the SOM-designed Baccarat Hotel & Residences at 20 West 53rd Street, and the skyscraper is rising quickly. Though the hotel will ultimately be run by the Starwood Group, Baccarat will lend its name to more than just the building–per The Wall Street Journal, the tower will feature Baccarat chandeliers and a crystal-themed gift shop.
With a total of 115 hotel rooms and 64 residences, the tower will be a welcome addition to 53rd Street, which is currently dominated by office towers. The Baccarat Tower’s website is currently lacking any information, but more should be forthcoming as the skyscraper continues to rise. Work on the site only began last year, but the building is already up to its second floor.
It’s safe to assume that the developer will capitalize on the Baccarat brand, meaning that the residences at 20 West 53rd will be extremely expensive. They will still pale in pricing and amenities compared to the future Torre Verre across the street, which will offer some of the best views in the city.
