Today, Citiscape Consulting has revealed an unusual design for a long-term care facility at 1508 Avenue Z in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn. The post-war Japanese Metabolism movement, a style that integrated organic material and architecture, was what inspired the 16-story building’s distinctive look.

Permits have been filed for an eight-story mixed-use building at 89 West End Avenue in Manhattan Beach, Brooklyn. The site is seven blocks away from the Brighton Beach subway station, serviced by the Q train, and end of the line for the B train. Daniel Estrin of Citiscape is behind the applications.
Bed-Stuy is experiencing a real estate boom, but renewal has been slow to arrive on the eastern edges of the neighborhood, where aging row houses sit next to squat warehouses and vacant lots. Friday’s crop of filings brought plans for a four-story, mixed-use building at 1905 Fulton Street, between Ralph and Howard Avenues.
Property owner Avraham Tarshish has filed applications for a three-story, 8,600 square-foot mixed-use commercial building at 1693 Flatbush Avenue, in Flatlands, six blocks from the 2 and 5 trains’ stop at Flatbush Avenue/Brooklyn College. The project will have 4,131 square feet of retail space on the ground and second floors, in addition to a 4,469 square-foot health care facility on the second and third floors. Richard Walsh’s Brooklyn-based Citiscape Consulting is the applicant of record.
