The Broadway Junction Subway Stations are seven blocks away, serviced by the A, C, J, L, M, and Z trains. The East New York Train Station is four blocks away, serviced by the Long Island Railroad. Like Minded People LLC, based in Forest Hills, Queens, is responsible for development.

Permits have been filed for a four-story residential building at 271 Mother Gaston Boulevard, in Brownsville, Brooklyn. The project will rise seven blocks away from the Atlantic Avenue Subway Station, serviced by the L train, as well as the East New York Train Station, serviced by eight lines of the Long Island Railroad. A few blocks further is the Broadway Junction Subway Station, serviced by the A and C trains, and the Alabama Avenue Subway Station, serviced by the J and Z trains. Dianping Chen will be responsible for the development.

Robert A.M. Stern-Designed Affordable Housing at 3 Livonia Avenue Approved by City Planning, Brownsville

Yesterday, the New York City Planning Commission unanimously approved a new affordable housing development for 3 Livonia Avenue, in Brownsville. This will be the fifth project in Brooklyn by the non-profit partnership of Breaking Ground and The African American Planning Commission Inc. The development, named Edwin’s Place, will create 125 rental units for homeless and low-income families, and comes as part of the Mayor’s housing initiative to build 80,000 new, affordable units over a span of ten years.

Permits Filed: 71 Units of Supportive Housing at 214 Hegeman Avenue, Brownsville

Brownsville, in eastern Brooklyn, is one of the few places in the five boroughs where the city still owns plenty of vacant lots. One of those properties is about to be put to good use as supportive housing. The city has filed plans for an eight-story, 71-unit development at 214 Hegeman Avenue, at the southern edge of Brownsville near Canarsie.

Albany still hasn’t resurrected the 421-a tax exemption program, and developers of big affordable housing projects have become tired of waiting for a tax break that may not return. Now Procida Companies is pushing forward with one of those developments, a 300-unit affordable housing complex at 96 New Lots Avenue in Brownsville.

Developers Seek Rezoning for Multi-Building, 512-Unit Affordable Mixed-Use Project at 110 New Lots Avenue, Brownsville

New details are emerging of the affordable mixed-use project planned at 110 New Lots Avenue, in southern Brownsville. The project was reported to consist of 481 units when plans were first unveiled in October. Developers have now filed applications with the Department of City Planning to rezone the two-block assemblage for a multi-building project, called Ebenezer Plaza, with a total 512 apartments, an increase of 31 units. All of the units would rent at below-market rates.

Four-Story, Four-Family Residential Project Filed at 545 Bristol Street, Brownsville

Brooklyn-based Oladega Properties has filed applications for a four-story, four-unit residential building at 545 Bristol Street, located on the corner of Lott Avenue on the southern end of Brownsville. The project will measure 4,600 square feet and its residential units should average 920 square feet apiece, indicative of family-sized apartments. Olabanji Awosika’s Jamaica-based architecture firm is the architect of record. The 20-foot-wide, 2,000-square-foot property is vacant. The Rockaway Avenue stop on the 3 train is five blocks away.

10-Story, 67-Unit Affordable Building To Replace Church at 1860 Eastern Parkway, Brownsville

The historic Our Lady of Loreto Church in Brownsville was just saved from being torn down to make way for affordable housing. Now, a different church two blocks away, at 1860 Eastern Parkway, is going to be demolished for another affordable development.

Four-Story, Eight-Unit Residential Building Filed At 594 Powell Street, Brownsville

Borough Park-based B&H Management has filed applications for a four-story, eight-unit residential building at 594 Powell Street, in Brownsville. The project will measure 5,631 square feet and its residential units should average 663 square feet apiece, indicative of rental apartments. Reza Khamcy’s Great Neck, N.Y.-based Icon Engineering is the applicant of record. The 24-foot-wide, 2,411-square-foot property is currently vacant. The Junius Street stop on the 3 train is three blocks away.

481-Unit Affordable Residential Project Planned At 110 New Lots Avenue, Brownsville

A development team that includes Procida Companies and The Church of God of East Flatbush has announced plans to build a 481-unit affordable residential project at 110 New Lots Avenue, in southern Brownsville. The project, dubbed Ebenezer Plaza, will take up the entire block, which is bound by Powell Street and New Lots, Sackman, and Hegeman avenues.
