The Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC) is now reviewing proposals to replace all existing windows at 260 West End Avenue, a 15-story cooperative building in Lincoln Square, Manhattan. Skyline Windows, a Bronx-based company, will oversee design, manufacturing, and installation of the proposed window system.
21 West End Avenue, the premier component of Riverside Center’s ongoing mega-development, is now home to Luci, New York City’s largest digital sculpture.
An interesting piece of both architecture and engineering is under construction in the land just north of Hell’s Kitchen in what is officially Lincoln Square. The project is One West End, located at 1 West End Avenue, which is at the northwest corner with West 59th Street. It features a large cantilevered portion, which has started to grow, and we have photos of the work courtesy of our friend Tectonic.
Back in November, YIMBY brought you a construction update on the 42-story, 362-unit mixed-use building underway at 1 West End Avenue, in the Lincoln Square section of the Upper West Side. At the time, the structure was at least 25 floors above street level, but now the building has topped out, as seen in photos by Tectonic (h/t Curbed). The new building encompasses 932,780 square feet and will contain retail space, in addition to 116 below-market rate rental units, within its six-story base. The tower portion will feature 246 condominium units. Glass installation is currently underway and the stone cladding of the podium appears largely complete. Silverstein Properties and Elad Group are the developers. Pelli Clarke Pelli is the design architect and Goldstein, Hill & West Architects is the architect of record. Completion is expected in 2017.
When we last checked in with 21 West End Avenue back in 2014, only a few stories of the 43-story tower had risen above street level. Now, Dermot Company is putting the finishing touches on the 529-foot-tall building between West 60th and 61st streets, and YIMBY reader Tectonic swung by for a construction update.
