The Landmarks Preservation Commission recently reviewed applications for an exterior renovation of a 19th century rowhouse and stable building in Manhattan’s historic Meatpacking District. The neighboring structures are located at 49 and 51 Gansevoort Street and will serve as a flagship location for luxury retailer Loro Piana. Together, the properties will share the address 3 Ninth Avenue.
Architecture firm Studio Gang’s stunning contribution to Manhattan’s iconic High Line Park is now complete. Known simply as ‘Solar Carve’, the 10-story office building features a prismatic, gem-like façade designed to reduce the structure’s shadow on the surrounding neighborhood.
The former Department of Sanitation facility on the Gansevoort Peninsula in Hudson River Park will soon be a 5.65-acre park with a beach. This week Hudson River Park Trust unveiled renderings of the public space designed by James Corner Field Operations, also responsible for the High Line, South Street Seaport, Greenpoint Landing, and Domino Park.
Designed by Studio Gang, the stunning glass facade at 40 Tenth Avenue is now complete. Described as a “solar carve,” the 12-story office building features a chiseled, gem-like curtain wall that was engineered to eliminate shadows.
