$93M Renovation Project Approved For Bronx River Addition In Soundview, The Bronx

The New York City Public Housing Preservation Trust has selected Fifth Avenue Builders to carry out more than $93 million in renovations at the New York City Housing Authority’s Bronx River Addition, an affordable housing development in Soundview. The project will include repairs across 226 apartments in two buildings and follows the Trust Board’s approval on July 8. Fifth Avenue Builders, a joint venture between Urban Atelier Group and Camber Property Group, was selected through a competitive design-build process. The development is the second NYCHA site to vote into the Trust program, with residents approving the transition in April 2024.

Stevenson Square Phase One Nears Completion in Soundview, The Bronx

Construction is nearing completion on the first phase of Stevenson Square, an all-affordable residential development in Soundview, The Bronx. Designed by WXY Architecture + Urban Design in collaboration with NV5 and developed by Camber Property Group, the $1 billion three-phase master plan is being built on underdeveloped land surrounding the Mitchell-Lama complex, called Stevenson Commons. The first phase will yield 175 affordable units on a plot generally bounded by Stevenson Commons to the north, Seward Avenue to the south, White Plains Road to the east, and Thieriot Avenue to the west.

The affordable housing lottery has launched for Bruckner Heights, a pair of mixed-use buildings at 2070 Chatterton Avenue and 1017 Olmstead Avenue in Soundview, The Bronx. Designed by Aufgang Architects and developed by Azimuth Development Group, the structures yield 330 residences. Available on NYC Housing Connect are 274 units for residents at 30 to 70 percent of the area median income (AMI), ranging in eligible income from $19,372 to $134,820.

Park Lane Senior Apartments, a 14-story affordable senior housing project, has opened for occupancy at 1940 Turnbull Avenue in Soundview, The Bronx. Developed by Asland Capital Partners and Pembroke Development, the 115,000-square-foot structure yields 154 units in studio to one-bedroom layouts, all designated as 100 percent affordable senior housing. Thirty percent of the apartments are reserved for formerly homeless seniors, and on-site social services will be provided by local not-for-profit, Self Help. The property is located between Pugsley Avenue and White Plains Road.
