Demolition Finishes for COOKFOX’s 335 Eighth Avenue in Chelsea, Manhattan

Demolition work is complete at 335 Eighth Avenue, the site of an upcoming seven-story residential building in Chelsea, Manhattan. Designed by COOKFOX and developed by MAG Partners and Penn South (aka Mutual Redevelopment Houses, Inc.), the 200,000-square-foot structure will yield 188 residential units with 30 percent dedicated to affordable housing for low- and middle-income residents under the Affordable NY Program, as well as a 23,000-square-foot Lidl grocery store on the ground floor. Titan Industrial SVC Corp served as the demolition contractor and Urban Atelier Group is the general contractor for the property, which is located at the corner of Eighth Avenue and West 26th Street within the Penn South affordable housing cooperative, officially known as Mutual Redevelopment Houses. The project is being co-financed by MAG Partners and global holding company Safanad.

Construction is complete on 3ELEVEN, a 60-story residential skyscraper at 601 West 29th Street along the border of West Chelsea and Hudson Yards. Designed by FXCollaborative and developed by Douglaston Development, the 695-foot-tall structure is also known as Tower A alongside the shorter 606 West 30th Street and yields 935 rental units, with 235 designated for affordable housing, as well as 15,000 square feet of retail space on the podium floors. ES Windows supplied the glass curtain wall and Levine Builders served as the general contractor for the property, which is alternately addressed as 311 Eleventh Avenue and bound by West 30th Street to the north, West 29th Street to the south, and Eleventh Avenue to the east.

Demolition is steadily moving downward at 100 West 37th Street, the site of a 68-story mixed-use residential skyscraper in the Garment District of Midtown, Manhattan. Designed by C3D Architecture and developed by Sioni Group under the 989 Sixth Realty LLC, the 743-foot-tall structure will yield 384,118 square feet with 300 condominium units spread across 297,301 square feet, as well as 86,817 square feet of commercial space and two cellar levels. Northeast Specialist Group is currently serving as the demolition contractor for the corner property, which is alternately addressed as 989-993 Sixth Avenue and located at the intersection of Sixth Avenue and West 37th Street.

High Line – Moynihan Connector Opens To The Public in Midtown West, Manhattan

Construction is finished on the High Line – Moynihan Connector, an L-shaped 600-foot-long extension of the 1.5-mile High Line linking the popular elevated green park with the five-building Manhattan West complex in Midtown West. Designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and James Corner Field Operations and developed in a public-private partnership between Empire State Development (ESD), Friends of the High Line, and Brookfield Properties, the $50 million project is composed of two ADA-accessible bridges that provide a safer and easier means of access to Moynihan Train Hall and Penn Station. Turner Construction Company was the general contractor for the walkway, which runs along West 30th Street between Ninth and Tenth Avenues and turns to the north at Dyer Avenue to connect to the elevated southwestern corner of the Manhattan West plaza above West 31st Street.
