New renderings have been revealed for 450 Union Street, an upcoming 19-story residential building in Gowanus, Brooklyn. Designed by SO-IL with Magnusson Architecture & Planning as the architect of record and developed by Tankhouse and McArthur Holdings, the proposed 203,000-square-foot structure will yield a mix of market-rate and affordable rental units along with ground-floor retail space. KPF’s 520 Fifth Avenue Supertall Rises Above Street Level in Midtown, Manhattan

Construction is rising above street level on 520 Fifth Avenue, an 88-story residential supertall in Midtown, Manhattan. Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox and developed by Rabina, which took over from Ceruzzi Properties and SMI USA in 2019, the 1,002-foot-tall structure will span 507,608 square feet yield 100 residential units, as well as commercial space on the lower floors and four cellar levels. WSP is the structural engineer, DeSimone Consulting Engineers is the facade consultant, and Suffolk Construction is the general contractor for the property, which is located at the northwest corner of Fifth Avenue and West 43rd Street, one block north of Bryant Park.

The Axel Wraps Up Construction at 550 Clinton Avenue in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn

Construction is wrapping up on The Axel, a 30-story mixed-use building at 550 Clinton Avenue on the border of Clinton Hill and Prospect Heights, Brooklyn. Designed by Morris Adjmi Architects and developed by Hope Street Capital, the 280,000-square-foot tower yields 284 apartments and 60,000 square feet of retail space in the multi-story podium. Triumph Property Group is managing leasing for the apartments and JLL is in charge of leasing the commercial space at the property, which is bound by Atlantic Avenue to the south, Clinton Avenue to the east, and Vanderbilt Avenue to the west.
