432 Park Avenue is back under construction after last month’s delay, and things are moving quickly. The core is up to the transition level, where the number of supporting columns on the northern side will switch from four to seven–the same number of columns the other sides have. As the 57th Street side of 432 Park will have a major retail component, the preference for fewer columns on that side is logical.
Though the concrete is taking forever to cure, it doesn’t look entirely terrible, just mostly. 432 Park’s saving grace is Gary Barnett, whose penchant for good design means that 225 West 57th will likely be stunning. The Nordstrom Tower will also be tall enough to diminish Vinoly’s Taste of Mumbai. At least Barnett’s oligarchs and plutocrats have enough sense to buy in buildings that aren’t aesthetically offensive.

Quite a thin building that supposed to exceed the height of the Empire State Building.
