30 Park Place had its official ground-breaking last week, two months after work actually resumed on the 937-foot tower. Progress has been swift, and the superstructure is already climbing above street level; formwork for the first floor is now visible. The building’s architect is Stern, and Silverstein is the developer.

The speed of ascent at Silverstein’s latest tower is impressive. Despite a 7-month lead-time, 30 Park Place should surpass 56 Leonard in early 2014; Herzog & de Meuron’s skyscraper is certainly more complex, but the pace of construction at 30 Park Place is very swift.

30 Park Place will also be known as the Four Seasons Hotel and Residences, with a total of 149 rooms and 161 condominiums. Completion of the 67-story tower is expected in 2015. When work wraps up, it will become one of the most expensive buildings in Lower Manhattan, as well as the tallest residential high-rise Downtown.
