229 Hawthorne Street, between Rogers and Nostrand avenues in Brooklyn’s Prospect Lefferts Gardens, is set for a new development. Applications filed with the DOB show that the new 16-story structure will have 13,510 square feet of residential space, to be divided amongst nine units, translating into an average size of 1,500 square feet. That means condominiums are exceedingly likely, and several of the residences will take up multiple floors. Victor Suben of Royal Engineering, P.C. is the architect of record, and Allen Shahipour, of Amona Realty Group, is listed as the developer. Demolition permits for the existing two-story home were filed back in March.

The application is for a 9 story, 16 unit building, not a 16 story building.

The application is wrong. It will be 9 stories and 16 units. Height is listed as 96 feet. Otherwise you would have 16 stories, 850 sq ft each, with 6 foot ceilings!
16 stories just did not ring true at all.
Nine stories is pretty high up for that block. I see a 6 story a few lots up.
