There is now a green light for the $76.8 million mixed-use residential project to be built next to the Metro-North train station on Halstead Avenue in downtown Harrison, in Westchester County, and adjacent financial incentives. The Westchester County Industrial Development Agency unanimously approved $1,352,966 in sales tax exemptions for the transit-oriented development in late November. Avalon Bay Communities is bringing 143 rental units, seven affordable units, 27,000 square feet of commercial space, and 758 on-site parking spaces to the new three-building complex. That includes two landscaped plazas bridging the train station platform with Halstead Avenue, and a design that ties the new construction to the existing streetscape.

Avalon Bay Communities is also responsible for the construction of of a 598-parking space garage on a lot owned by the MTA. The garage will have 475 spaces owned by the MTA for commuters, 77 spaces for residents of the residential project, and 46 spaces for the commercial users.

The project is estimated to be completed in a 30-month period with two building phases. The work is expected to create 410 construction jobs and 8 permanent jobs.

Avalon Development has been a huge success for years, they build them right! When the rental process starts it fills up fast with residents waiting to be the first to enjoy all the amenities and conveniences of living in an Avalon Development. Every town and city should have an Avalon.

The residents in Harrison, New York, are blessed to have Mayor Ron Belmont developing to fit their needs. “The people come first, always.”
