In the SoHo neighborhood, 300 Lafayette Street sits along West Houston Street. The seven-story building has topped out as 145 feet and is close to completion. It is designed by COOKFOX and developed by Related and LargaVista Companies.
The project will yield 83,000 square feet. 30,000 square feet will go towards retail and 53,000 square feet towards office space on the floors above. March Associates Construction Inc is the construction manager. Recent photos show the progress at the site.
Located across the street, 606 Broadway stands to the west of 300 Lafayette Street and is also almost finished.
The terracotta facade is complete, while work on the ground floor window panels and the upper outdoor terrace space is finishing up. Eventually, shrubs will be planted along the edge of the exterior on each level, along with tall trees lining the private terrace for office workers. Directly above is a large, ornamental, overhanging trellis that hovers on top of the entire seating area. It follows the outline of the building and implements a large-scale geometric pattern of the metal hand railings that are placed on all three sides of the property. A brick trim of white-colored tiles cover the peripheral columns, ceilings, and walls, mixed with floor-to-ceiling glass panels.
Work on 300 Lafayette Street is expected to be completed sometime this year.

Please pardon me for using your space: Its design communicate with the sky, delete rendering and go to see deliberately constructed. (Thanks to Michael Young)
Easily one of the most interesting new buildings in the city. Midcentury modern revival.
