139 East 56th Street, aka 677-681 Lexington Avenue, recently topped out 17 stories above Midtown. Designed by SLCE Architects and developed by Hines and Welltower, the new senior-housing facility is called “Sunrise” and is located at the corner of East 56th Street and Lexington Avenue. Facade installation at ground level has also commenced. The two developers previously paid $115 million for the 9,236-square foot site. The tower now stands 218 feet to its rooftop.
Recent photos show the warm-colored stones of the curtain wall beginning to rise up to the second floor.
151 units will result from the nearly 130,000 square foot building. Sitting at street level will be 6,900 square feet of retail space. The second floor will have community spaces with large floor-to-ceiling windows. The residential units will run from the third floor to the sixteenth floor. Amenities are scattered among this section of the tower to make it easier for residents and save time getting around. There will also be a large number of landscaped outdoor terraces thats sit on the top of the main setbacks.
The project is expected to be completed in 2020.
