Permits have been filed for a three-story school building at 197 9th Street in Gowanus, Brooklyn. Located between 3rd Avenue and 4th Avenue, the through lot is one block west of the 4th Avenue-Ninth Street subway station, serviced by the F, G, and R trains. New York City School Construction Authority is listed as the owner behind the applications.

The proposed 56-foot-tall development will yield 24,372 square feet designated for community facility space. The building will house a pre-kindergarten center, seating an estimated 180 four-year-olds from the surrounding Park Slope and Gowanus neighborhoods. The concrete-based structure will also have a cellar.

AECOM Capital is listed as the architect of record.

Demolition permits will likely not be needed as the lot is vacant. An estimated completion date has not been announced.
