Construction is now complete on Vandewater, a 33-story residential tower at 543 West 122nd Street in Morningside HeightsManhattan. Developed by Savanna and designed by INC Architecture & Design with SLCE Architects as the executive architect and Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates, Inc. as the landscape architect, the 385-foot-tall structure yields 183 condominium units. Brown Harris Stevens Development has been in charge of marketing and sales for the property, which is bound by Broadway to the west, West 122nd Street to the south, West 123rd street to the north, and Amsterdam Avenue to the east.

Since our last update in early February, the ground-floor landscaping, sidewalks, and main entrance on the southern elevation have all been finished and the green sidewalk scaffolding has been removed.

There are numerous rectangular planters positioned around the perimeter of the stone-paved motor court and wide sidewalks. Each one has birch trees and landscape lighting. The entrance to the Vandewater has a pair of tall doors lined with an ornamental diamond pattern across the glass, and sits beneath a dark canopy with sculptural touches that match the building’s exterior. On the eastern end of the structure is a private outdoor garden.

Nice design, although it looks more like an office building. The floor plans show tiny rooms, but what can you expect for a measly $3 million.
