Construction has broken ground on 387 8th Street, a ten-story residential building in Hamilton Park, Jersey City. Designed by INOA Architecture and developed by EPIRE, the structure will yield 75 units, 8,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space, and 77 parking spaces. Christie Engineering is the structural engineer and Wilco Construction is the general contractor for the project, which is located between Brunswick and Division Streets.
Renderings show the façade composed of finished concrete forming a staggered grid around ribbons of floor-to-ceiling glass. The massing incorporates rounded corners and angled dividers on the terrace spaces atop the upper level setbacks. The ground floor features a more expansive glass curtain wall for the retail frontage, and the parking garage entrance is depicted on the western elevation along Division Street.
The building’s amenities will be primarily housed on the top floor and will include a lounge area, a fitness center, and a children’s play room.
387 8th Street is planned to complete construction in the winter of 2025.

I find the design to be surprisingly elegant and distinguished. The height seems appropriate to the neighborhood.
The proximity to the overhead turnpike extension is a bit of a challenge.
