Foundations are progressing at 126 Hester Street, the site of a seven-story mixed-use building in Chinatown, Manhattan. Designed by Issac & Stern Architects and developed by Ruoxu You under the Fortune Assets LLC, the 70-foot-tall structure will span 14,427 square feet and yield eight condominium units with an average scope of 1,037 square feet, as well as 5,839 square feet of commercial space, 284 square feet of community facility space, and a cellar level. The property is located on an interior lot between Chrystie Street and Bowery.

Recent photographs show construction moving along on the reinforced concrete foundations and cellar level, with steel rebar and concrete formwork assembled around the inner columns and walls. YIMBY predicts the building to reach street level near the end of spring.

The preliminary elevation rendering posted on the construction board shows the seven-story building clad with a dark brick façade and a grid of floor-to-ceiling windows. There are several balconies on levels four through six, and a setback on the seventh level will likely be topped with a terrace. A mechanical bulkhead protrudes from the flat roof parapet.

The property was vacant prior to its cleanup and excavation last year.

The nearest subways from the property are the B and D trains at the Grand Street subway station to the north.

126 Hester Street’s anticipated completion date is slated for winter 2024, as noted on site. However, YIMBY predicts the project to finish sometime within the first half of 2025.
