The affordable housing lottery has launched for the 160 Madison Avenue waitlist, which is filling current and future vacancies. There are five studios and one one-bedroom unit currently available. Built in 2015, One Sixty Madison is a 42-story residential building in Manhattan’s Midtown neighborhood. Designed by SLCE, and developed by JD Carlisle, the building has 319 units. Available on NYC Housing Connect are units for residents at 40 and 50 percent of the area median income (AMI), ranging in eligible income from $23,297 to $83,850.

Each residence has floor-to-ceiling windows with skyline views. Amenities include a 24-hour attended lobby, on-site laundry, fitness center, lounge, and outdoor space. Tenants are responsible for electricity including the forced air component of heating.

At 40 percent of the AMI, there are units ranging in monthly rent from $767.29 to $772.65 for incomes ranging from $28,845 to $67,080.

At 50 percent of the AMI, there are units ranging in monthly rent from $759.80 to $1,010.86 for incomes ranging from $28,588 to $83,850.

Prospective renters must meet income and household size requirements to apply for these apartments. Applications must be postmarked or submitted online no later than November 6, 2024.

  1. Making a max of $83,000 . So teachers with a masters degree can’t apply.

  2. That’s a huge fridge for such a small apartment. How could one person eat that much food?

  3. If you want your building entirely devoid of design inspiration, SLCE is the place to go.

  6. Did they really put a microwave/convection oven above a gas range in this day and age? I did this in my kitchen in 2010 and it didn’t take more than a few years for the gas fire heat to burn the motherboard to a crisp.

    • Wait aren’t you supposed to put a vent above a gas range?

      • The model I had came with a hood fan built in. It was obviously made to be installed over a stove, and it would probably be just fine over an induction rangetop, but not gas. I notice that at Home Depot they have very few of these models nowadays, so I think others have had the same experience.
