Kendal On Hudson Secures Renovation Financing at 1010 Kendal Way In Sleepy Hollow, New York

Kendal on Hudson, a senior living community at 1010 Kendall Way in Sleepy Hollow, New York, has received preliminary approval for $20.6 million in tax-exempt bond financing from the Westchester County’s Local Development Corporation. The financing will go toward a renovation for the property, which is designed to improve accessibility and functionality in both interior and exterior common spaces for the 222-unit community, and is expected to cost a total of $32 million.

The four-building campus completed construction in 2005 and is situated on a 25-acre campus overlooking the Hudson River. Residents can choose between one- and two-bedroom apartment configurations and have access to amenities including an indoor swimming pool and a community center.

Planned renovation work will cover approximately 48,000 square feet of interior space across the property and 6,500 square feet of exterior terrace space. Construction work will add 1,600 square feet of new common space.

“In addition to creating over 50 construction jobs, this project will also provide a total economic benefit to the County of more than $2.2 million at no cost to Westchester County,” said Westchester LDC chair Joan McDonald.

    I would be curious to know the nature of the material used in construction. In NJ, they commonly use wood for 4-story complexes with a masonry base. There was one in Edgewater that burned down during construction, and then again when occupied.

  2. Various combinations of cement block, lightweight steel frames, and precast masonry panels are becoming more common in residential construction of this scale.
