NYC Parks has announced capital improvement projects for three community greenspaces in Corona, Queens, with reconstruction projects planned for Josephine Caminiti Playground, the basketball courts at Park of the Americas, and American Triangle Park. Revitalization efforts, supported by City Council allocations, are being led by NYC Parks in partnership with Councilmember Francisco Moya.
The $6.9 million reconstruction of Josephine Caminiti Playground, now in the early stages of construction, is expected to be completed by July 2026. The project will introduce modern playground equipment, updated safety surfacing, new spray showers, and enhanced accessibility features. Expanded seating will also be added to better accommodate community use.

At Park of the Americas, a $7.3 million renovation of the basketball courts and adjacent entrance is currently underway, with completion anticipated in May 2026. Plans include a rebuilt court, repaved pathways and sidewalks, additional seating, and expanded tree pits to support the park’s tree canopy. Meanwhile, the $1.1 million reconstruction of American Triangle began in March 2025. This project will provide new plantings, paved paths, and an outdoor electrical outlet to support annual community events such as the holiday tree lighting.

“Today marks a proud moment for our community as we break ground on transformative upgrades to Park of the Americas, Josephine Caminiti Playground, and the American Triangle,” said District 21 Councilmember Francisco Moya. “This $8.75 million investment is about more than just parks; it’s about building safer, greener, more vibrant spaces where families can gather, children can play, and neighbors can connect.”
