Exterior work is progressing on the HCCC Center for Student Success, an 11-story educational facility for the Hudson County Community College (HCCC) at 14 Enos Place in Journal Square, Jersey City. Designed by NK Architects, the 180-foot-tall structure will span 153,186 square feet and yield 24 classrooms and expanded student services and common spaces. The $96.3 million project will also include a full-size NCAA gymnasium, a fitness center, black-box theater, health sciences laboratories, 85 offices for the Continuing Education and Workforce Development, eight conference rooms, and an instruction center for sister colleges and partners. The HCCC-owned property is located between Jones Street to the east and Enos Place to the west.

The steel superstructure stands built to its pinnacle and largely treated with fireproofing. Crews have also begun to frame the exterior with metal studs and insulation boards, with work furthest ahead on the broad northern elevation. Façade and window installation have yet to begin.

The main rendering above provides an aerial perspective looking east at the complex, showing the façade composed largely of red brick and light gray paneling surrounding recessed square windows. The upper levels of the tallest portion of the structure at the northwest corner will be enclosed in a glass curtain wall with a grid of light gray louvers that extends above the flat roof. A six-story-high banner with signage for the institution is shown protruding from the western elevation along Enos Place. A small green roof is also visible atop the low-rise volume at the southeast corner of the site.

The development is intended to consolidate several of the college’s outdated facilities. Funding for the project was derived in part from the sale of HCCC properties and the Hudson County Community College’s reserve funds, the County of Hudson, a $2.2 million grant from the federal government, and the New Jersey Office of the Secretary of Higher Education (OSHE).

Construction broke ground in June 2024 and the building topped out in April 2025. The site was formerly occupied by a surface-level parking lot.

14 Enos Place is a short walk south of the Journal Square PATH station.

The HCCC Center for Student Success’ grand opening is slated for the fall of 2026.

  1. Very nice, but no one really cares about New Jersey, and that’s all I’ve been seeing here lately.

  2. Lumping in Jersey City with the rest of New Jersey is like saying Brooklyn is just like the rest of Long Island. Also, incase you haven’t noticed, JC is kind of a big deal.

  3. I care about NJ Stanley!

Looks like it’s built for a magnitude 8 earthquake. It’s a rather odd design, but it could work.

  5. The blade sign should be cool. I have a weak spot for signage that’s integrated into the buildings architecture. You don’t see enough of it IMO.
