Renovations are progressing on 1585 Broadway, a 42-story office skyscraper in Times Square, Manhattan. Designed by Gensler, the project involves the re-cladding of the 685-foot-tall structure’s podium and refurbishments to the tower’s 1.3 million square feet of office space. The building was completed in 1990 and serves as Morgan Stanley’s global headquarters. The property is located between West 47th and 48th Streets.

The LED board support structure has been assembled over the new glass curtain wall on the podium since our last update in February 2025, when crews were in the process of re-cladding the lower levels. The two-tiered assembly features curved corners, retaining the look of the old video board layout with a significantly expanded scope. The construction hoist remains anchored to the northern face of the tower as interior work progresses, and the sidewalk shed continues to cover the ground floor.

The below Google Street View images show the previous look of 1585 Broadway’s podium and LED boards, which were last updated in 2015. This iteration featured three ribbon displays, replacing the monochrome stock tickers that came before them.

YIMBY expects 1585 Broadway to complete work in the latter half of this year.

  1. They have to update and renovate to keep up with JP Morgan.

  2. needs more Times Square pizzazz, razzle dazzle.

LED lights on entire facade for nighttime shows – you can see it done in Asia and the Sphere.

plus the base retail needs to be more user friendly and open.

  3. Didn’t they just update it? Wasn’t too long ago that it was a black background ticker
