Construction is complete on Linden Grove, a new 100-percent affordable senior housing development at 223 Linden Street in Bushwick, Brooklyn. Gilbane Development, Blue Sea Development Company, and JASA held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the building, which yields 153 studio and one-bedroom apartments for qualifying seniors, including 46 units set aside for formerly homeless older adults. The project was developed through the City’s Seniors First initiative. The property is located between Knickerbocker and Wilson Avenues.

The 13-story building spans about 100,000 square feet and was constructed using modular methods. Apartments are targeted to households earning 30 to 40 percent of area median income (AMI). The development also stands out for its sustainability profile, with Passive House, LEED Platinum, Fitwel, Energy Star, Zero Energy Ready Home, and National Green Building Standard certifications, which the development team says make it the tallest affordable residential modular Passive House building in the country.

Linden Grove includes a wide range of residential amenities, including free building-wide internet, a rooftop fitness room, arts and crafts space, laundry facilities, a furnished community lounge with computer stations, and outdoor recreation areas with fitness equipment, dining space, and raised-bed gardens. The team also incorporated a 2,000-square-foot community facility that will be made available at no cost to local nonprofits and neighborhood groups for programming that benefits Bushwick residents. On-site JASA staff will provide case management, wellness programming, and support with healthcare, benefits, and daily living needs.

Transit nearby the property includes the M train at Knickerbocker Avenue and the L and M trains at the Myrtle–Wyckoff Avenues station.

This seems to owe something to the Colonial Revival hotels, etc., of the early 20th century.

I saw this and it’s a very nice surprise. This proves EIFS is just greed.

  3. Rendering looks great. Why no actual photos?
