Construction is about to top out on 56-12 Roosevelt Avenue, a six-story mixed-use residential building in Woodside, Queens. Designed by Xiaohong Zhao of Ameriland Brook LLC for Danny Chang of 5612 Management LLC, the 65-foot-tall structure will span 9,552 square feet and yield nine rental units with an average scope of 764 square feet. The project will also include 2,047 square feet of commercial space, 625 square feet of community facility space, and a 35-foot-long rear yard, according to permits filed last year. The property is located between 56th and 57th Streets.

Crews are tying the rebar for the sixth-story columns and walls and assembling the scaffolding that will support the roof. The bulkhead will extend up the western lot line wall. Façade installation has yet to begin.

The site was formerly occupied by a two-story residential building that was demolished last year. The developer purchased the property for $1.3 million in the spring of 2024.

The ground-up development is located between the elevated 52nd Street and 61st Street–Woodside subway stations, both served by the 7 train. The latter also offers access to the Woodside Long Island Rail Road station.

YIMBY expects 56-12 Roosevelt Avenue to complete construction sometime in the second half of next year.

  1. Really smart if the developers to put up this building right next door to a blink fitness center because now they can easily claim the gym as an amenity at a cost of zero well done gentkefolks, otherwise a six story building on a mostly narrowish plot of hand such as this presents some fairly major potential problems with architectural stability, which if course is my specialty, but it seems that at this phase of construction they still have plenty of options to get an A+ in architectural stability without resorting to flying buttresses which the architectural and engineering staff are free to use without any compensation to me, while they are at it and if it hasn’t yet been addressed they might want to squeeze in some underground and backyard parking to go with the front to back units that’s it appears to be bursting into with I guess a decent HVAC to keep the already cool residents even cooler, so in conclusion I and we as all interested parties band together in solidarity look forward to more upcoming and down coming news of further progress points in the construction of this new ediface.

  2. There’s a reason why this spot had no apartments on it. It is Right Next to the deafening Roosevelt Avenue El. Hurts your ears just to be near it.

Jerome Ave. and White Plains Road in the Bronx, and Roosevelt Ave. in Queens seem to be popular construction sites despite their elevated subway lines.
