Construction of Mixed-Use 92-23 168th Street Kicks-Off in Jamaica, Queens

Construction is now underway on a sprawling mixed-use development in Jamaica, Queens, designed by architects Edelman Sultan Knox Wood for a multi-agency development team, and Omni New York. Located between Jamaica and Archer Avenues at 92-23 168th Street, the project will debut as “Archer Green” and incorporate residential, retail, commercial, and parking areas.

The development is comprised of two residential towers that rise from a shared podium. The north tower will rise 23 stories, while the south tower will top out at 20 stories. In total the project will contain 431,000 square feet including 380 affordable apartments, a 15,000 square foot community facility, 68,000 square feet of retail and commercial space, and cellar level parking areas.

Documents also confirm Western Beef, a budget supermarket chain, will occupy a portion of the podium levels. Exact square footage has not been specified.

Alongside Omni New York, the project team includes New York City’s Department of Housing Preservation, the Economic Development Corporation, and the Housing Development Corporation.

The development arrives as one of several forthcoming projects in the Jamaica Now Action Plan. The initiative is designed to enhance the neighborhood as a central business district by providing new mixed-use developments that are anchored by affordable housing and community services including small business support and workforce training.

Full completion is expected by July 2020.
