Permits have been filed for a seven-story residential building at 169 North 1st Street in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Located between Bedford Avenue and Driggs Avenue, the lot is a short walk to the Bedford Avenue subway station, serviced by the L train. Gemini Rosemont, a Los Angeles-based developer known for its office portfolio, is listed as the owner behind the applications under the 171 North First Street LLC.

The proposed 70-foot-tall development will yield 70,536 square feet, with 49,802 square feet designated for residential space. The building will have 59 residences, most likely rentals based on the average unit scope of 844 square feet. The masonry-based structure will also have a cellar and 29 enclosed parking spaces.

Fogarty Finger Architecture is listed as the architect of record.

Demolition permits were filed in February 2020. An estimated completion date has not been announced.

    Let me guess: another dark grey, white, or faux brick cookie-cutter rental building to further architectural and cultural homogenization of the neighborhood. Yawn.
