NYC Parks has reopened the Bayside Marina in Bayside, Queens following a $8 million FEMA-funded reconstruction project and a $2.2 million capital investment from new concessionaire Buster’s Marine Bronx Marina. Located at the east end of 28th Avenue and Cross Island Parkway, the restored marina now features an upgraded floating dock system and a new waterfront café operated by Buster’s.
Reconstruction work addressed damage sustained during Hurricane Sandy in 2012, including the installation of a new ADA-compliant gangway, 3,000 square feet of floating docks, a concrete boat ramp, and a 300-foot retaining wall to protect against future erosion. Additional improvements include new asphalt pavement on the greenway and parking lot, traffic reconfiguration with one-way vehicular lanes, and enhanced safety features such as signage and rumble strips.

Buster’s capital investment brought significant upgrades to the site’s pier buildings, public restrooms, and boating amenities, including restrooms with showers. The new café, DJ’s at Bayside, offers seafood dishes in a fast-casual format and is open to the public seven days a week. The marina also now features expanded public fishing facilities and a boating supply store with rentals and bait.
