Blackhouse Proposes 740-Foot Tall Mixed-Use Tower At 470 Eleventh Avenue Amid Ownership Disputes

Over the summer, YIMBY brought you news on the stalled-out mixed-use proposal by Kuafu Properties at 470 Eleventh Avenue, in Midtown West. Amid disputes over the property’s ownership, Blackhouse Development has proposed their own 740-foot-tall mixed-use building at the site, Curbed reports. Los Angeles-based M-Rad is designing, and although the rendering is conceptual, the project would feature 160 hotel suites and 15 condominiums. The initial project, dubbed Hudson Rise Hotel, was to rise 47 stories and contain 47 condominiums and a hotel.

Construction Update: 3 Manhattan West Rising Quickly, Gets Cladding

While it’s taken over a decade for the first few projects to get moving along the Far West Side, both Hudson Yards and Manhattan West are now well underway, with the concrete for 10 Hudson Yards having topped-out just last week. Now, we have an update from Tectonic with photos of 3 Manhattan West. Completion is slightly further out at the future residential tower, but the building is rapidly rising into the Midtown skyline, and cladding installation now underway.

Port Authority Approves Multi-Billion-Dollar Redevelopment of Midtown Bus Terminal

The Port Authority has approved a multi-billion-dollar plan to replace the Port Authority Bus Terminal between 8th and 9th Avenues and West 40th and 41st Streets, in Midtown West, according to the New York Post. The project will cost between $7 and $10 billion dollars, and funding will come from the sale of air rights, residential units, and commercial spaces. A design competition is expected to be held, and a team will be chosen by September of 2016.


514 Eleventh Avenue

Silverstein Puts Development Site At 514 Eleventh Avenue On The Market, Midtown West

Over the summer, Silverstein Properties began demolishing the low-rise commercial building at 520 West 41st Street/514 Eleventh Avenue, in Midtown West, to make way for a 1,400-unit mixed-use development. Now, the developer has tasked CBRE to market and sell the property, which could potentially be worth close to $500 million, according to Crain’s. The project is currently being processed through ULURP, as a rezoning is required, and Silverstein eventually agreed to allot 375,000 square feet for affordable housing. YIMBY revealed the original proposal in July of 2014.


15 Hudson Yards

Foundation Work Underway At 70-Story, 365-Unit 15 Hudson Yards Tower

Back in July, YIMBY provided you a construction update on 15 Hudson Yards, Related Companies’ 70-story, 960,000 square-foot mixed-use tower planned at Hudson Yards, in Midtown West. Foundation work is now well underway, and rebar as well as the first steel columns can been seen protruding from concrete. The building will include 365 residential units, which will be a mix of rentals and condominiums. The Culture Shed will extend horizontally east from the tower’s base. Diller Scofidio + Renfro and the Rockwell Group are designing, and completion is slated for 2018.
