The Chinese-American Planning Council, Gotham Organization, and city and state leaders celebrated the grand opening of CPC One, a mixed-use development located at 45 Suffolk Street on the Lower East Side of Manhattan.

CPC One plans to offer the Chinese-American Planning Council’s Manhattan Community Center three floors of the property, along with more than 200 units of affordable housing. In addition, the project plans to integrate the cultural heritage center of the Beth Hamedrash Hagodol Synagogue, which was destroyed by fire in 2017.

The development of CPC One was a collaborative effort involving city leadership and the broader community. The project was financed by contributions from the New York State Housing Finance Agency along with Goldman Sachs and the New York Housing Preservation Department.

The affordable housing at CPC One is targeted to individuals and families earning 30 to 80 percent of the NYC metropolitan area median income. The project also plans to include about 17,000 square feet of retail and commercial space, and will feature a grocery store.

“The opening of the new Chinese-American Planning Council headquarters is a great milestone achieved as a result of a near eight-year partnership between CPC and Gotham,” said David Picket, CEO of Gotham Organization. “Gotham and CPC together successfully navigated a three-year rezoning process that paved the way for the construction of nearly 500 new rental apartments including 209 affordable homes, neighborhood retail, a new home for the Beth Hamedrash Hagodol synagogue, and CPC’s beautiful new headquarters, a home for CPC to deliver essential services and ensure the vitality of the Lower East Side for years to come. This project reflects Gotham’s commitment to team with strong not for profit partners to build better communities.”
