The DUMBO Improvement District and the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership have unveiled a new public sculpture honoring late musician Christopher Wallace, more commonly known as The Notorious B.I.G. From artist Sherwin Banfield, the new sculpture is titled Sky’s the Limit in the County of Kings and sits on the northeast corner of Prospect and Washington Streets near the entrance of the Brooklyn Bridge in DUMBO.
Work is complete on 90 Sands Street, a 30-story residential tower in DUMBO, Brooklyn. Designed by Beyer Blinder Belle and developed by Breaking Ground, the project involved the redevelopment of the former Jehovah’s Witness Hotel and yields 491 units with a portion devoted to deeply affordable housing and supportive housing for the formerly homeless, as well as a 28,000-square-foot community facility and commercial space spanning the first and second floors and a public plaza at the corner of Sands and Jay Streets.
Façade installation is complete on Olympia, a 33-story residential tower at 30 Front Street in DUMBO, Brooklyn. Designed by Hill West Architects and developed by Fortis Property Group, the 401-foot-tall structure will yield 76 condominium units in one- to five-plus-bedroom layouts with interiors designed by Workstead and sales and marketing by the Eklund Gomes Team at Douglas Elliman and Karen Heyman at Sotheby’s. Urban Atelier Group is the general contractor for the property, which is bound by Front Street to the north, York Street to the south, and Washington Street to the east.
Front & York, a mixed-use residential property at 85 Jay Street in DUMBO, Brooklyn, is now home to a 12-foot sculpture designed by Morris Adjmi Architects. Weighing approximately 2,000 pounds, the sculpture sits on the corner of Front and Jay Streets and is aptly titled “Ampersand.”
The affordable housing lottery has launched for 90 Sands Street, a 30-story mixed-use building in DUMBO, Brooklyn. Designed by Beyer Blinder Belle and developed by Breaking Ground, the conversion will yield 491 residences. Available on NYC Housing Connect are 185 units for residents at 30 to 120 percent of the area median income (AMI), ranging in eligible income from $18,412 to $128,880.
