The Brooklyn Bridge Park Corporation will soon break ground on two acres of public area surrounding the iconic structure’s exit ramp in DUMBO, Brooklyn. Most recently, the Landmarks Preservation Commission reviewed plans to construct a new pedestrian plaza beneath the bridge, closest to Pier 1.
The New York City Council has approved plans to convert a defunct 29-story hotel development near the DUMBO, Brooklyn waterfront into an affordable housing complex. The building is located at 90 Sands Street and was formerly owned by the Watch Tower Society, a business entity for the Jehovah’s Witness religious organization.
The Landmark Preservation Commission recently granted unanimous approval for the construction of a single-story commercial building in DUMBO, Brooklyn. The property is located at 20 Old Fulton Street and will contain ARABICA Coffee’s first stateside coffee shop and a second, unconfirmed retail tenant.
The Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC) will again review proposals to construct a new seasonal venue space on the Fulton Ferry Landing Pier in Brooklyn Bridge Park. The project was originally proposed at a hearing in April 2019, where LPC expressed concerns that the building would obstruct views of the surrounding historic waterfront and downtown Manhattan. The design team, led by Starling Architecture, was also asked to replace the white exterior elements with with brown and other dark colors.
Construction on the full-block development at Front & York is swiftly ascending at 85 Jay Street in DUMBO, Brooklyn. Designed by Morris Adjmi Architects and developed by CIM Group and LIVWRK, the the 1.1-million-square-foot residential project will rise 21 stories and yield 728 apartments that start around $950,000.
