Adams Administration To Replace Decommissioned Jail Barge With Hunts Point Marine Terminal In The Bronx

Mayor Eric Adams, alongside the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) and the Department of Correction (DOC), has announced the permanent removal of the Vernon C. Bain Correctional Center barge from the Hunts Point waterfront in the Bronx. In its place, the city plans to develop a new Hunts Point Marine Terminal, which will serve as a logistics hub connecting maritime freight to last-mile delivery systems throughout New York City.

Bronx Logistics Center In Hunts Point Achieves LEED-Platinum Certification

The Bronx Logistics Center in Hunts Point has officially achieved a LEED v4 Platinum rating, the highest LEED certification granted by the U.S. Green Building Council. Designed by ARCO and developed by Turnbridge Equities and Dune Real Estate Partners, the 1.3-million-square-foot facility is on track to open this year and will be among a small group of LEED Platinum-rated distribution buildings in the country.

Phase One of $460M Hunts Point Interstate Improvement Project Now Complete in the South Bronx

Skanska and its joint venture partner ECCO III Enterprises have completed the first phase of a $460 million interstate improvement project in the Hunts Point section of the South Bronx. Key project elements include the replacement of four bridges that connect Bruckner Expressway and Bruckner Boulevard over Amtrak and CSX rail lines, improved pedestrian access, and a new community park.
