Excavation Begins for 695-Foot-Tall Residential Skyscraper at 601 West 29th Street in Hudson Yards

Excavators have begun to dig below street level at the site of 601 West 29th Street, aka Tower A, which will become a 695-foot-tall residential skyscraper. Our last YIMBY update was in early July, where demolition and clearing had just wrapped up at the site, which is located at the corner of West 29th Street and Eleventh Avenue. Workers are wasting no time at all with the construction of the 58-story building, which is designed by FXCollaborative and developed by Douglaston Development.

MVMK Architecture recently unveiled plans to construct a 13-story, mixed-use property in an area of Jersey City known as The Heights. Located at 15 Nardone Place, the proposed structure would rise from an assemblage of six adjacent lots that currently support two low-rise commercial buildings, five multi-story residential structures, a gas station, and associated parking areas. The new development would replace all existing properties.

Extell, the developer behind some of the most prominent projects in New York City such as Central Park Tower, One57, Brooklyn Point, and One Manhattan Square, recently filed demolition permits for two four-story structures at 724 and 726 Eighth Avenue. Located at the busy corner of West 45th Street and Eighth Avenue, the block-wide development stirred interest in early 2018 when a concept proposal was release.
