Construction at 111 West 57th Street has reached a major milestone. The reinforced concrete superstructure for the second tallest building in New York City by roof height and the world’s most slender residential building is now topped out. The future 1,428-foot tall tower is being designed by SHoP Architects and developed by JDS Development, Property Markets Group and Spruce Capital Partners. Douglas Elliman is handling sales and marketing for the 46 condominiums.
Last week, the state appeals court dismissed an appeal, effectively greenlighting the American Museum of Natural History’s plans for a new educational center on the Upper West Side. According to West Side Rag, the removal of trees outside of the Museum has already begun in preparation for the 230,000-square-foot Richard Gilder Center for Science, Education, and Innovation. The Gilder Center will include new exhibition and learning spaces with state-of-the-art technology and access to the Museum’s world-class collections. The five-story addition to the Museum is designed by Jeanne Gang of Studio Gang Architects with Ralph Appelbaum Associates designing the exhibition experiences, and the Reed Hilderbrand firm responsible for the landscape architecture.
The Westchester County Industrial Development Agency has granted preliminary approvals for the construction of a new three-building residential complex in the Foxhurst neighborhood of Westchester County. The complex is a collaborative project between the NRP Group and RPW Group, which intend to begin construction by February 2020.
