Demolition Prep Underway for 37-Story Skyscraper at 1491-1497 Third Avenue on Manhattan’s Upper East Side

Demolition is about to get underway at 1491-1497 Third Avenue, the site of a 37-story residential skyscraper on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Designed by Hill West Architects and developed by Samy Mahfar of 255 East Houston Manager LLC, the 510-foot-tall structure will span 259,202 square feet and yield 120 condominium units with an average scope of 2,001 square feet. The development will also include 18,994 square feet of lower-level commercial space, two cellar levels, a 31-foot-long rear yard, and a 30-vehicle parking garage. The project site is located at the corner of Third Avenue and East 84th Street.

14-Story Residential Building Readies for Construction at 491 Baltic Street in Gowanus, Brooklyn

Excavation is imminent at 491 Baltic Street, the site of a 14-story residential building in Gowanus, Brooklyn. Designed by Isaac & Stern Architects and developed by Two Kings Real Estate, the 78,000-square-foot structure will yield 79 rental units, with 25 percent designated as affordable housing. The project will also include ground-floor commercial space. INPUT is the interior designer for the property, which is located at the corner of Baltic and Nevins Streets.
